Training hike #3: Priest Rock Trail to Kennedy Trail

We decided to head out together for a hike this weekend on Sunday. I told Scott to pick us a trail and told him to find us something “not too long but steep” and he certainly delivered!

This trail starts just above the Lexington Reservoir in Los Gatos and hikes up (straight up) the hills above Los Gatos. It’s really more of a fire trail than singletrack, and also frequented by fast moving mountain bikers.

Here’s what the elevation profile looks like:

It got pretty steep at the top there, we were definitely breathing hard! We think we should come back here again a few months into our training and use this hike as a benchmark to see how our fitness improves!

Very scenic considering it’s just above bustling Silicon Valley!

Stats:

  • Distance: 7.9 miles
  • 2685 feet of elevation gain
  • Highest elevation: 2578 feet
